Medavog Designs: Francisco Medavog
It was almost two decades ago that Medavog gained international exposure on the high-end fashion and couture scene by showcasing his first collection in Mexico and Seville, Spain. Since then, his keen sense of beauty and interest in the history of fashion compelled him to begin a couture collection, which has grown into one of the largest most unique assortments of exquisite gowns. He has worked with such esteemed companies and fashion entities as the Old Globe Theater, San Diego Sheraton, and Saks Fifth Avenue. His collections are heavily influenced by vintage pieces from as far back as the 18th century. Francisco Medavog lives in San Diego, working as a collector and designer of one-of-a-kind couture, and believes collecting and preserving the best fashion has to offer provides a truly valuable historic insight to design techniques. He reflects this belief in his professional and personal motto, "Know your past. Build your future."

Since I can remember I've had an interested for fashion. I recall being around the age of four and taking apart some of the photo albums of my childhood my mom had put together over the years and replace the picture whit what would be my first designs.

As the years when by many things in my life change but the one thing that remain the same was my interest for fashion. At the age of 16 I started the Fashion Club at Mission Bay High School with the help of my art teacher Miss, Dorrie who I dearly admire not only for her great sense of style but for her great creative vision. With her help not only did I start the Fashion Club but I also produce my first collection for a talent show held at my high school. With no proper sewing skills I created a 15 piece collection which consisted of blouses, skirts and a few dresses. Thought I didn't win the talent show I did win something much bigger and better then that I won the confidence and the motivation to get more involve with designing. Since that day I pushed myself to not only design the clothes but to produce them myself.

After high school I attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise were I learn much more then I could possibly imagine. In 2009 I got the honor to participate and win the Princess Project Runway Event, a live prom dress design competition, Were I got the chance design and drape a prom dress in front of the many guests that attended the event in one hour. In 2010 I competed in the Fashion Careers College Project Fashion, a design competition were I competed against 24 other fashion designers and won first place which consisted of a $20,000 scholarship and since then I've had the honor of attending FCC, were I've gotten the chance to inter for Somsi Couture and at the Art Of Fashion at the Timken Museum.
